タンザニアバンデッドウデムシ / Tanzanian Banded Tailless Whip Scorpion / Damon variegatus

This species belongs to the family of arm-spiders, which are primarily found in eastern Africa. It is characterized by its distinctive appearance—with elongated, well-developed pedipalps and extremely long legs—and looks very different from typical spiders and scorpions.

As its name suggests, its body features distinctive markings, and it is known as one of the most ornamental species among arm-spiders. Unlike scorpions, which possess venomous stingers, they lack a stinger at the tip of their abdomen.

They are nocturnal, hiding in the shade of rocks or crevices in tree bark during the day and becoming active at night. Due to their unique appearance, this group has attracted the attention of collectors of rare African arthropods.
