**Paradisaea minor** **Common Name:** Lesser Bird-of-paradise The Lesser Bird-of-paradise (*Paradisaea minor*) is a spectacular species of bird-of-paradise native to the rainforests of New Guinea and surrounding islands. It is well known for the male's striking yellow ornamental plumes, which extend from the lower back and are displayed dramatically during courtship. Males have a bright yellow crown, dark brown upperparts, and elongated yellow and white flank plumes, while females are generally less colorful and lack the male's elaborate ornamental feathers. The species is primarily arboreal and feeds mainly on fruits, insects, and other small invertebrates. Like other birds-of-paradise, the Lesser Bird-of-paradise is renowned for its elaborate courtship displays and is highly valued for its exceptional beauty and distinctive plumage.
