**Nigeria Leaf-toed Gecko (*Hemidactylus ansorgii*)** The Nigeria Leaf-toed Gecko (*Hemidactylus ansorgii*) is a slender and relatively uncommon forest-dwelling gecko from West Africa. It is particularly interesting to keepers and collectors who specialize in unusual African *Hemidactylus* species. **Common Names:** Nigeria Leaf-toed Gecko, Ansorg's Half-toed Gecko **Distribution:** West Africa, including Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, and Cameroon. **Habitat:** Primarily associated with tropical and subtropical forest environments. In Cameroon, the species has been recorded in several localities in the western part of the country. Individuals have been observed on tree trunks within dense forest. **Size:** A relatively slender, narrow-headed gecko with a long, cylindrical tail. **Lifestyle:** Primarily nocturnal and arboreal. It is adapted for climbing and may be encountered on tree trunks and other elevated surfaces in forest habitats. **Diet:** Insectivorous, feeding on insects, spiders, and other small arthropods. **Appearance:** The species has a slender body, relatively narrow head, long cylindrical tail, and generally subdued brownish or grayish coloration suitable for its forest environment. **Origin:** Wild-Caught (WC), Cameroon. **Difficulty:** Intermediate to Advanced. A vertically oriented enclosure with branches, cork bark, climbing surfaces, hiding places, good ventilation, and appropriate humidity is recommended. **Special Feature:** A relatively uncommon West African forest gecko that is rarely encountered compared with widespread house geckos such as *Hemidactylus mabouia*. **Taxonomic Note:** *Hemidactylus ansorgii* has a complicated taxonomic history and was previously treated by some authors as a synonym of other African *Hemidactylus* species, including taxa now associated with *H. muriceus*. It is currently recognized as a distinct species.
