**West African House Gecko (*Hemidactylus angulatus*)** The West African House Gecko (*Hemidactylus angulatus*) is a small and adaptable African gecko commonly associated with buildings, rocky areas, gardens, forest edges, and savanna habitats. It is particularly interesting to keepers looking for uncommon wild-caught African house geckos. **Common Name:** West African House Gecko **Former Trade Name:** Often historically identified as *Hemidactylus brookii* in older African records. **Distribution:** West and Central Africa, including Cameroon and several neighboring countries. **Habitat:** A highly adaptable species found from coastal lowlands to upland savanna. It may occur beneath rocks, around termite mounds, on buildings, in gardens, ruins, and rocky crevices. **Size:** A small to medium-sized house gecko, with adults generally measuring around 10–13 cm in total length. **Lifestyle:** Primarily nocturnal and semi-arboreal. Individuals are active at night and readily climb walls, rocks, tree trunks, and other vertical surfaces. **Diet:** Insectivorous. Suitable prey includes crickets, roaches, flies, moths, and other appropriately sized insects. **Appearance:** Generally grayish, brownish, or tan, often with darker markings and a series of enlarged tubercles on the dorsal surface. The exact coloration and pattern can vary between populations. **Origin:** Wild-Caught (WC), Cameroon. **Difficulty:** Beginner to Intermediate. A vertically oriented enclosure with climbing surfaces, cork bark, branches, hiding areas, good ventilation, and moderate humidity is recommended. **Special Feature:** A hardy African house gecko with a broad habitat tolerance and a long history of taxonomic confusion. **Taxonomic Note:** African populations historically identified as *Hemidactylus brookii* are now generally treated as *Hemidactylus angulatus*. Older Cameroon records may therefore appear under the name *H. brookii* or *H. brookii angulatus*. Accurate locality information is recommended when documenting wild-caught specimens.
