**Psittrichas fulgidus** **Common Name:** Pesquet's Parrot **Alternative Common Name:** Dracula Parrot Pesquet's Parrot (*Psittrichas fulgidus*) is one of the most distinctive and unusual parrots in the world. Endemic to the montane forests of New Guinea, it is easily recognized by its predominantly black plumage, vivid red wing and belly feathers, and bare black facial skin. Unlike most parrots, Pesquet's Parrot has a highly specialized, elongated hooked bill and a relatively featherless head. This distinctive appearance has earned it the alternative common name "Dracula Parrot." Its unusual facial structure is thought to be an adaptation associated with its highly specialized diet, which consists primarily of figs and other fruits. Pesquet's Parrot is generally found in montane and hill forests, where it spends much of its time moving through the forest canopy in search of fruit. It is a strong and agile flyer, often traveling considerable distances between feeding and roosting areas. With its striking black-and-red plumage, unusual facial appearance, and highly specialized feeding habits, Pesquet's Parrot is one of the most visually distinctive and evolutionarily remarkable parrots of New Guinea. **Scientific Name:** *Psittrichas fulgidus* **Family:** Psittrichasiidae **Common Name:** Pesquet's Parrot **Alternative Common Name:** Dracula Parrot **Distribution:** New Guinea **Habitat:** Montane and hill forests
