**Holaspis guentheri** **Common Name:** Sawtail Lizard **Japanese Name:** Guenther's Tree Lizard *Holaspis guentheri* is a small and highly distinctive arboreal lizard from tropical Africa. It is known for its slender, flattened body, striking coloration, and remarkable ability to glide between trees. The species has a dark body marked with bright yellow to bluish longitudinal stripes, while the tail develops an attractive blue coloration. Its flattened body and lightweight skeleton allow it to spread its body and tail when moving through the air, enabling controlled gliding between branches. Unlike true flying lizards such as *Draco*, *Holaspis* does not possess specialized skin flaps. Instead, it uses its flattened body, tail, and limbs to increase surface area during gliding. *Holaspis guentheri* is primarily diurnal and strongly arboreal. It spends much of its time moving rapidly across tree trunks, branches, and vegetation, searching for small arthropods such as insects and spiders. The species has a broad distribution across tropical Africa, including Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Central African Republic, Uganda, Angola, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, and Togo. It is a relatively small lizard, generally around 10–15 cm in total length, and its combination of vivid coloration, arboreal lifestyle, and gliding ability makes it an unusual and attractive species for specialist reptile keepers. **Distribution:** Tropical West, Central, and parts of East Africa **Habitat:** Tropical forests and wooded habitats **Activity:** Diurnal **Lifestyle:** Arboreal / Gliding **Diet:** Small insects, spiders, and other arthropods **Adult Size:** Approximately 10–15 cm total length
