**Cacatua sulphurea** **Common Names:** Lesser Sulphur-crested Cockatoo / Yellow-crested Cockatoo The Lesser Sulphur-crested Cockatoo (*Cacatua sulphurea*) is a small and striking cockatoo native to Indonesia. It is characterized by its predominantly white plumage, vivid yellow crest, and expressive facial features. Once widespread across several Indonesian islands, the species is now highly threatened in the wild due to habitat loss and illegal trapping. Adults are predominantly white, with bright yellow feathers on the crest, cheeks, and underparts of the wings and tail. The distinctive erectile crest can be raised dramatically when the bird is excited, alarmed, or displaying, creating a vivid contrast against its white plumage. The species inhabits lowland forests, woodland, and cultivated areas, where it feeds primarily on seeds, fruits, nuts, berries, and other plant material. It is an active and highly social bird, often moving through the canopy in small groups. With its compact size, brilliant yellow crest, and lively personality, the Lesser Sulphur-crested Cockatoo is one of the most recognizable small cockatoos of the Indonesian archipelago. **Scientific Name:** *Cacatua sulphurea* **Family:** Cacatuidae **Common Names:** Lesser Sulphur-crested Cockatoo / Yellow-crested Cockatoo **Distribution:** Indonesia **Habitat:** Lowland forest, woodland, and cultivated areas
