ペア詳細
**Guinean Forest Skink (*Mochlus guineensis*)** The Guinean Forest Skink is a small and unusual West and Central African skink, characterized by its elongated cylindrical body, short limbs, and semi-fossorial lifestyle. It was historically classified as *Lygosoma guineensis*, a name still encountered in older literature and the reptile trade. This species occurs across parts of West and Central Africa, including Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, and neighboring regions. It is primarily associated with humid forest environments and can also occur in forest edges and moist savanna habitats. The Guinean Forest Skink is a secretive, ground-dwelling species that spends much of its time beneath fallen logs, leaf litter, and other ground cover. Its reduced limbs and elongated body are adaptations associated with moving through leaf litter and loose soil. Field observations have described the species as partially fossorial and cryptozoic. Adults reach approximately 15–18 cm in total length. The species has keeled dorsal scales, relatively short limbs, and a comparatively short tail, giving it a distinctive appearance among African skinks. **Scientific Name:** *Mochlus guineensis* **Former Name:** *Lygosoma guineensis* **Common Name:** Guinean Forest Skink **Family:** Scincidae **Origin:** West and Central Africa **Habitat:** Humid forests, forest edges, moist savanna and leaf-litter environments **Adult Size:** Approximately 15–18 cm total length **Lifestyle:** Terrestrial, semi-fossorial and secretive
