**Pill Millipede** *Order: Sphaerotheriida* A fascinating group of millipedes known for their distinctive ability to curl into a nearly perfect ball when threatened. This unique defensive behavior gives them a remarkable resemblance to terrestrial isopods, although they are true millipedes. Pill millipedes are primarily terrestrial and inhabit leaf litter and forest-floor environments, where they feed mainly on decaying plant material and organic matter. They are generally peaceful and spend much of their time hidden beneath leaves and other substrate. African pill millipedes are particularly sought after by invertebrate enthusiasts because of their unusual body shape, defensive behavior, and relatively limited availability in the captive trade. **Origin:** Africa, including Cameroon **Order:** Sphaerotheriida **Lifestyle:** Terrestrial **Diet:** Decaying leaves, wood, and organic matter **Defense:** Rolls into a protective ball when disturbed **Temperament:** Peaceful and non-aggressive **Captive availability:** Uncommon **Note:** “Pill Millipede” refers to an entire order rather than a single species. Exact species identification requires a scientific name or detailed examination of the specimen.
