**Angulate Gecko (*Hemidactylus angulatus*)** The Angulate Gecko (*Hemidactylus angulatus*) is a widespread African house gecko found throughout much of West and Central Africa. It is an adaptable species that can inhabit natural environments as well as buildings, gardens, rocky areas, and other human-modified habitats. **Common Names:** Angulate Gecko, African House Gecko **Distribution:** West and Central Africa, including Cameroon, Gabon, Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Senegal, and neighboring regions. **Habitat:** A highly adaptable species occurring in savanna, woodland, forest edges, rocky areas, villages, gardens, buildings, and other disturbed habitats. It is generally less associated with dense primary forest than some specialized African *Hemidactylus* species. **Size:** Adults can reach approximately 14 cm in total length. **Lifestyle:** Primarily nocturnal and semi-arboreal. Individuals commonly climb walls, rocks, tree trunks, and other vertical surfaces while hunting at night. **Diet:** Insectivorous. Suitable prey includes crickets, roaches, flies, moths, spiders, and other appropriately sized arthropods. **Appearance:** Coloration is variable, ranging from pale gray and translucent brown to darker brown. Wild specimens may display contrasting dark markings and enlarged pale or dark dorsal tubercles. **Origin:** Wild-Caught (WC), Cameroon. **Difficulty:** Beginner to Intermediate. A vertically oriented enclosure with climbing surfaces, cork bark, branches, hiding places, good ventilation, and moderate humidity is recommended. **Special Feature:** A widespread and highly adaptable African house gecko that is particularly suitable for keepers interested in wild-type African *Hemidactylus*. **Taxonomic Note:** African populations historically identified as *Hemidactylus brookii* are generally treated as *Hemidactylus angulatus*. Recent research has also identified substantial geographic differentiation within the *H. angulatus* complex, so precise locality information is valuable for wild-caught specimens.
