It belongs to the side-necked turtle family, characterized by the distinctive way its members bend their necks sideways beneath the edge of the shell rather than retracting them straight back. This species typically has an oval, moderately flattened carapace with brown to olive coloration. Its head and limbs are adapted to an aquatic lifestyle, while its relatively understated appearance helps it blend into muddy water and natural wetland surroundings. The Okavango Mud Turtle inhabits freshwater environments, including rivers, marshes, floodplains, and seasonal wetlands. It is associated with the Okavango Basin, where fluctuating water levels shape its habitat. Like other mud turtles, it is primarily aquatic and can make use of shallow, vegetated areas for shelter and foraging. Its diet consists of a variety of aquatic invertebrates and other small animal matter, as well as additional food items available in its environment. **Distribution:** Southern Africa, particularly the Okavango Basin **Habitat:** Freshwater rivers, marshes, floodplains, and seasonal wetlands **Diet:** Aquatic invertebrates and other small animal matter **Behavior:** Primarily aquatic; a side-necked turtle **Quantity:** 1 Pair (Male + Female)
